Bad Moon Rising
- Zone: Twilight (level 3 of 5)
- Genre: Rock, Noise rock, No wave
- Mood: gloomy, ragged, ritualistic
- Sound: detuned guitars, tape noise, long jams
On Bad Moon Rising, Sonic Youth completely rejected the norms of the electric guitar. They incorporated radical, non-standard tunings and wedged tools like screwdrivers and drumsticks under the strings to create unearthly, metallic drones and atonal shrieks. The album plays like a single, uninterrupted nightmare. Instead of pauses between tracks, songs bleed together via tape loops and eerie feedback bridges.
