Type O Negative recorded this in Brooklyn in early 1993, produced by Peter Steele and Josh Silver. Steele's deep, deadpan baritone and slow, doomy guitar sit under Silver's keyboards and sample-heavy interludes, and the album is meant to be heard as one continuous piece. It includes a cover of Seals & Crofts' Summer Breeze, re-sung with the original lyrics after the songwriters objected to a parody version. Members of Life of Agony add backing vocals, and the cover shows Brooklyn's Green-Wood Cemetery.
