Brian Eno's first solo album was recorded in twelve days at Majestic Studios in London in September 1973. He invited sixteen guests, including Robert Fripp, Phil Manzanera and members of Hawkwind and King Crimson, partly because he thought they were musically incompatible. He directed them with body language and suggestion, then heavily condensed and processed the results, so some tracks bear little resemblance to what was played. Credits such as snake guitar and electric larynx describe treatments, and Eno sometimes sings in the manner of Bryan Ferry.
