Homogenic is the Björk album recorded between 1996 and 1997 at her London home and at El Cortijo, a studio near San Pedro de Alcántara in Spain, where she moved for privacy. Mark Bell produced much of it, with Howie B and Guy Sigsworth, and Eumir Deodato arranged strings for an Icelandic string octet. Björk composed string parts on a Casio keyboard and handed them to programmers, who added rhythmic patterns, and accordion and glass harmonica sit among the beats. Her vocals range from raw screams to traditional Icelandic choral singing, and One Little Indian released it in September 1997.
