Kimono My House
- Scores: Noise 2, Unease 2, Complexity 3 (each 1 to 5)
- Genre: Rock, Glam Rock, Art Pop
- Mood: manic, theatrical, sly
- Sound: operatic falsetto, glam stomp, quirky lyrics, tricky arrangements, piano and guitar interplay
Sparks recorded this between December 1973 and February 1974 at four London studios, produced by Muff Winwood after Roy Wood proved unavailable. Ron Mael was now the principal songwriter, playing an RMI Electra-Piano 300 through an Echoplex tape delay, which gives the shimmer on This Town Ain't Big Enough for Both of Us. The sound at the end of Equator that resembles a saxophone is a Mellotron. Russell Mael's falsetto leads over a simpler, more focused production than their earlier records. Morrissey has said it influenced his decision to pursue music.
