Pink Floyd recorded this between January and September 1971 at AIR, EMI and Morgan studios in London. Echoes grew from a single piano note by Richard Wright fed through a Leslie speaker, which gave a sonar-like ping the band could not recreate in the studio, so the demo version was kept. One of These Days runs its bassline through a Binson Echorec, and Nick Mason's single line was recorded at double speed and played back at normal speed. Fearless includes a field recording of Liverpool fans singing You'll Never Walk Alone.
