Animal Collective recorded this in February 2008 at Sweet Tea Recording Studio in Oxford, Mississippi, with Ben H. Allen engineering and mixing. It was made largely without guitars, with samplers such as the Roland SP-404 as the main instruments. The band used an Eventide H3000 to pitch piano and acoustic guitar parts up and down, then mixed them back in, and played PA speakers in the control room to create samples. Layers of reverb run through the whole record.
