Michael Rother and Klaus Dinger recorded this in four nights in December 1971 at Star Studios in Hamburg, with Conny Plank engineering and co-producing. Dinger brought a taishōgoto, a Japanese banjo, after the first two days were unproductive, and a heavily treated version appears on Negativland. His steady motorik drumbeat first appears on Hallogallo and Negativland. Rother plays guitar and bass, and the American band Negativland took its name from the track.
