Noah Lennox made this over roughly two years in Lisbon, fitting sessions around Animal Collective tours. He built it with a Boss SP-303 sampler, estimating it is 96% samples, and drew on sources including Kylie Minogue, a 14th-century Guillaume de Machaut rondeau and Lee Scratch Perry. He played no drums, and his heavily layered, reverb-soaked vocals sit over loops. Lennox described the songs as super dubby and old sounding, and took the sampling approach from hip hop producer Madlib.
