- Scores: Noise 2, Unease 2, Complexity 2 (each 1 to 5)
- Genre: Rock, New wave, Art rock
- Mood: jerky, robotic, satirical
- Sound: synths, jerky rhythms, satirical
Devo recorded this in October 1977 and February 1978 at Conny Plank's studio near Cologne and at Different Fur in San Francisco, produced by Brian Eno. David Bowie later did additional production and mixing after conflicts between the band and Eno. Eno wrote synth parts for almost every track, but the band used them on only three or four songs. It includes a deconstructed cover of Satisfaction and the songs Mongoloid and Jocko Homo, with jerky, mechanical rhythms throughout. The European edition used different artwork from stills of the band's short film The Truth About De-Evolution.
