Leonard Cohen · 1971

• Scores: Noise 1, Unease 3, Complexity 1 (each 1 to 5)
• Genre: Folk, Singer-songwriter

Produced by Bob Johnston, this was mostly recorded at Columbia Studio A in Nashville in September 1970, with strings and horns arranged by Paul Buckmaster and added at Trident Studios in London. Sing Another Song, Boys is a live recording from the Isle of Wight Festival. Cohen plays acoustic guitar with a syncopated style, most evident on Avalanche, and children from the Corona Academy sing on Joan of Arc. Some songs, including Joan of Arc, were written years earlier, one of them at the Chelsea Hotel in New York.
