Sigur Rós recorded this in 2004 and 2005 at Sundlaugin with Ken Thomas co-producing. The lyrics are mostly in Icelandic, with occasional Vonlenska, a scat-like gibberish, and Andvari, Gong and Mílánó are sung entirely in it. Time signatures change often, and in Andvari the main melody repeats every 27 beats. The string quartet Amiina co-wrote Mílánó and plays strings on it. The vinyl edition places Mílánó on a separate 10-inch record.
