Trans-Europe Express is a Kraftwerk album about the railway service of the same name and about Europe as a whole, recorded in 1976 at their Kling Klang studio in Düsseldorf. Much of it is built on a Synthanorma Sequenzer, a custom 32-step, 16-channel analogue sequencer made by Matten & Wiechers, which allowed longer sequenced synthesiser lines. Side two is a suite running from the title track through "Metal on Metal" and "Franz Schubert" and ending with a reprise of the "Europe Endless" theme. The English and German versions were mixed separately, and it was released on Kling Klang in March 1977.
