Victorialand is a Cocteau Twins album made by Elizabeth Fraser and Robin Guthrie as a duo while Simon Raymonde was working on This Mortal Coil. It dispenses with most of the percussion and bass, leaning on Guthrie's guitar filigrees and produced textures under Fraser's largely indecipherable lyrics, with Richard Thomas of Dif Juz adding saxophone and tablas. Its subtler, more minimal sound was hard to master, so the UK vinyl was pressed as a 12" at 45 rpm. The title refers to Victoria Land in Antarctica, and some track titles come from passages on the Arctic and Antarctic in David Attenborough's The Living Planet.
