Weasels Ripped My Flesh is a collage of live and studio recordings by Frank Zappa's Mothers of Invention, with stage recordings from 1968 and 1969 spliced together with studio tracks, including material from the Hot Rats sessions. The playing moves between free improvisation, dissonant jazz-rock and satire: "Prelude to the Afternoon of a Sexually Aroused Gas Mask" parodies Debussy, and the title track is about a minute and a half of the whole band producing noise and feedback. "The Eric Dolphy Memorial Barbecue" goes from a complex melody to howls and laughter to a rave-up, and ends in stop-start fashion.
